When a community comes together…

On Saturday I was part of something quite special. A community came together to help breath life back into an old building.

As you may know, my office is based at The Circle in Dundee. The Circle is a Community Interest Company (CIC), setup by Kirsty Thomson to turn the old Claverhouse training centre into a sustainable and vibrant working community in Dundee.

I’m fortunate to be one of the Trustees of this wonderful project where we’re developing affordable workspace for enterprise, creativity and culture and supporting tenants along the way.

Our official launch is set for 25th November, and so Centre Manager Nicola Donnelly had organised a day for people to come together and clean, hoover, paint, brush, dig, and do whatever else was possible to spruce the place up.

We met at 10am, and after a cup of tea, got stuck in. Throughout the day more people joined us, a mixture of friends, family, supporters of The Circle, and people we’d never met, but who’d heard about what we were doing and wanted to help.

It was a humbling experience.

It was one of those days that restores your faith in people.

Come and visit us at The Circle, we’d be delighted to see you and show you our wonderful home!
