Demonstrations against Trump and his appalling ‘travel ban’ took place in 35 cities and towns across the UK yesterday. Thousands of people took to the streets to vent their anger about this mad man’s behaviour. Every day it feels at though we’ve woken up in a Batman movie, where some megalomaniac has taken over, and the Caped Crusader will swoop in to save the day.
But this is real.
I read yesterday that both Elon Musk, founder of Tesla, and Travis Kalanick of Uber are ‘advising Trump’s team‘. It’s a move that can only be about their self-interest. Meanwhile, Uber’s competitor Lyft pledged to donate $1m to ACLU to fight the ban. Now this could be an equally cynical move, grabbing headlines while their big competitor is weathering the storm, but hey, that’s business.
It makes me think about the values at those companies. Snuggling up to this vile, racist, sexist, narcissistic human being, because that will benefit their business. I’m sorry, but someone’s moral compass is way off here.
I’m not going to say a great deal more here, and tomorrow we’ll get back to business, but for today it’s important that we stand together. I think the picture at the top of this page says it all really #StandUpToTrump #LoveTrumpsHate
